The Vision Council Foundation has launched its 2026 National Sunglasses Day campaign, encouraging eyecare providers, retailers, and industry organizations to participate. The organization has a wealth of downloadable resources available—and is also offering up to 25 complimentary printed copies of its UV Protection Educational Pamphlet to ECPs upon request.

National Sunglasses Day, being held June 27, is designed to promote UV-protective eyewear as an everyday wellness essential and educate consumers about the risks associated with prolonged sun exposure.

Campaign Resources and Tools

To support participation, The Vision Council Foundation released free downloadable materials. A toolkit for eye care professionals includes patient-facing education materials and in-practice promotional assets such as:

  • National Sunglasses Day logos
  • Social media graphics and posts
  • Fact sheet
  • How to Celebrate guide
  • Ready-to-print pamphlet and poster
  • Waiting room video
  • Marketing email templates.

A Simple, Powerful Message

The National Sunglasses Day campaign highlights the role sunglasses play in protecting against conditions linked to UV exposure, including photokeratitis, cataracts, and certain eye cancers.

According to The Vision Council’s 2025 Market inSights with 2026 Forecast report, while more than 168 million Americans wear non-prescription sunglasses, approximately 37% of U.S. adults still do not regularly use UV-protective eyewear.

“Eyecare providers and optical professionals are the most trusted voices when it comes to protecting patients’ vision and long-term eye health,” says Ashley Mills, CEO of The Vision Council and The Vision Council Foundation. “National Sunglasses Day gives our industry a focused moment to champion a simple, powerful message: wear your sunglasses every day.”

Participation Opportunities

The Vision Council encourages practices and businesses to participate in National Sunglasses Day in multiple ways, such as:

  • In-practice events, including offer frame styling sessions, UV demonstrations, or patient education moments
  • Promotions or giveaways on sunglasses or UV-protective lenses
  • Providing UV safety education
  • Social media posts using the hashtag #NationalSunglassesDay.
