While eye care professionals make most practice decisions based on patient care and bottom lines, many are also looking at how those decisions can impact the environment. “Going green” not only supports the health of the planet and its inhabitants, but it can also serve as a tool for vision care practices.
Recent survey results reveal that some patients are more influenced by those environmental decisions. According to the See Tomorrow Initiative from the Contact Lens Institute (CLI) focused on consumer perspectives influencing contact lens fitting and wear, Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2012) are most concerned about the environment. “Gen Z is known for being more socially concerned than older generations,” according to the CLI report.
