SDC Technologies has expanded its investment in flō Optics and will gain representation on the company’s Board of Directors. The companies are deepening their strategic partnership around flō Optics’ digital ophthalmic lens coating technology.
SDC Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of Mitsui Chemicals, participated as a lead strategic investor in flō Optics’ Simple Agreement for Future Equity (SAFE) financing round.
The follow-on investment builds on a partnership established through flō Optics’ Series A financing in July 2025.
Supporting Commercial Progress
flō Optics is developing a digital coating platform for ophthalmic lens manufacturing designed to enable precise and scalable lens coating and surface treatment, the company says, as it transitions from development into early commercialization.

Proceeds from the financing will support continued commercialization activities, expanded customer deployments, and development of flō Optics’ next-generation digital coating platforms.
Expanding Partnership
As part of the new investment, SDC will appoint a representative to flō Optics’ Board of Directors. SDC Technologies develops and manufactures specialty coating systems for plastics and glass across the ophthalmic, automotive, aerospace, and electronics industries. The company has been part of the Mitsui Chemicals Group since 2008.
