Newton has expanded its Sequel lens portfolio with the introduction of Sequel Computer and Sequel Meeting. These lens designs are intended for patients who spend extended periods using digital devices. Both lenses are now available through VSP alongside the company’s full Sequel portfolio.
Occupational Lens Designs
Sequel Computer is intended for patients who spend much of the day working at desktop or laptop computers. According to Newton, the lens places 50% of its total ADD power at the fitting point and is optimized for viewing distances up to 4 feet.
Sequel Meeting is designed for patients who alternate between computer work and viewing across a workspace or conference room. The lens places 30% of its total ADD power at the fitting point and is optimized for viewing distances up to 10 feet.
Sequel Portfolio
The additions bring the Sequel portfolio to six lens designs, including Sequel 0 (single vision lens with no ADD Power Boost), Sequel 38 (single vision lens with 0.38D ADD Power Boost), Sequel 67 (single vision lens with 0.67D ADD Power Boost), and Sequel PAL, a progressive lens.
All Sequel lenses feature the company’s Convergence Boost technology, which is designed to address both visual clarity and comfort during prolonged near work. Convergence Boost technology uses a subtle prismatic effect in the near and lower intermediate viewing zones to reduce the convergence demands associated with sustained screen use.
Addressing Digital Eye Strain
According to internal clinical data, 91% of patients wearing Sequel single-vision lenses reported reduced digital eye strain symptoms, and Sequel progressive lens wearers experienced an average 71% reduction in symptoms.
“Many of my patients spend hours each day switching between computers, phones, and near work, and they’re looking for a solution that supports the way they actually use their eyes,” says Collin Gray, OD, owner of Eyecare of Lehi in Utah. “Sequel lenses with Convergence Boost technology help address the visual demands that can contribute to fatigue during sustained near tasks, while availability through VSP broadens the range of patients able to access this premium technology.”
