SILMO Paris has appointed industrial designer and creative director Joachim Froment as president of the jury for the SILMO d’Or 2026 awards.

Based in Brussels, Froment will help lead the judging process for the upcoming edition of the annual eyewear and optical industry awards program, which will take place during SILMO Paris from Sept. 25-28 at Paris Nord Villepinte.

Background

A graduate of the Royal College of Art in London, Froment has received several international distinctions during his career, including iF Design Awards, Good Design Awards, and Core77 Awards. After beginning his career in Copenhagen, Froment co-founded Futurewave, a design and technology studio. He has collaborated with companies including Renault, LVMH, Richemont, and technology firms on projects spanning mobility, lighting, furniture, and consumer electronics.

Froment has developed a multidisciplinary approach to design that combines engineering, technology, and artistic expression. According to SILMO Paris, his work explores the connection between objects, their users, and their environments, advocating for an approach where products are conceived as essential links within a circular system. His creative language is guided by the principle of “Agape,” in which human experience and the future of the ecosystem coexist.
