EyeMed Vision Care and The Vision Council Foundation have announced the continuation of their partnership. For a second year, the organizations will collaborate to increase awareness of the role comprehensive eye care plays in overall health while providing accessible resources for patients and educators. The latest update to the partnership expands vision health education efforts for both children and adults.
Targeting Consumer Education
The new Eye Health Engagement Series is designed to broaden outreach beyond grade-school education to include adult audiences and aging populations. The series focuses on the connection between eye health and systemic conditions such as cardiovascular disease and diabetes, reinforcing the importance of routine eye exams in early detection and coordinated care. Also, the initiative addresses age-related conditions like cataracts and macular degeneration, providing educational resources to support long-term vision health.
“The eyes can be a window into overall health, and eye exams can uncover important insights that extend beyond vision alone,” says Matt MacDonald, president of EyeMed Vision Care. “Through this partnership, we are helping broaden eyecare awareness and encouraging individuals to take an active role in caring for their health.”
Vision Curriculum Kit for Classroom
The partnership also includes the release of the fourth installment of the Vision Curriculum Kit, “Lens Technology: The Science of Refraction.” Developed in collaboration with The Vision Council Foundation, the interactive educational resource will introduce students to eye health while encouraging interest in vision care.
The kit is available for free download or shipping. About 144,000 kits have been developed and distributed to date, providing resources for educators, professionals, and parents.
A Shared Commitment
In addition, the organizations co-hosted a recent webinar focused on workforce trends, talent development strategies, and pathways for the next generation of eye care professionals. “Fueling the Future: The Next Generation of Eye Care Professionals” is now available on demand.
“Our ongoing collaboration with EyeMed Vision Care reflects our shared commitment to advancing education and strengthening the future of the optical industry,” says Ashley Mills, CEO of The Vision Council.
