With the eye care community facing a growing myopia epidemic, Myopia Profile’s third annual Myopia Action Month reached a new milestone by generating more than 3 million engagements globally across its platforms.

“The massive interaction this year shows that listening to the eye care community pays off.”

The initiative provided eye care professionals (ECPs) worldwide with access to free educational resources, including short videos, targeted lectures, and downloadable tools designed to enhance myopia management in practice. According to Myopia Profile, much of this year’s content was shaped directly by clinician feedback, which ensured greater relevance for everyday application.

Dr. Kate Gifford, Myopia Profile co-founder, credited the campaign’s success to community-driven evolution: “The massive interaction this year shows that listening to the eye care community pays off. We look forward to gathering feedback from this year to make next year’s Myopia Action Month even stronger, continuing to evolve and deliver content that truly supports ECPs and advances children’s vision care worldwide.”

Held in September 2025, the engagements represent a 40% increase compared to 2024 and more than four times the activity recorded for this campaign in 2023. Participation extended beyond Myopia Profile’s platforms as well. More than 70% of Myopia Action Month posts were shared by external organizations and ECPs with an average of 11 posts per day.

A Worldwide Focus on Childhood Myopia

The enthusiasm for Myopia Action Month mirrors rising concern over childhood myopia rates. Recent studies demonstrate that about one-third of children and adolescents are affected by myopia. Other estimates show that nearly half the world’s population will be myopic by 2050, with early onset myopia increasing the risk of pathologic vision complications such as cataract, retinal detachment, and glaucoma.

To address this, the Myopia Action campaign continues to emphasize early management, collaborative care, and evidence-based treatment approaches.

Practical Tools for ECPs and Parents

Available year-round on MyopiaAction.com, the program’s resources include clinical snapshots, 10-minute lectures offering practice pointers, a social media toolkit, and more to help build a myopia management program.

Myopia Action Month partners with the World Council of Optometry and is supported by its sponsors, including CooperVision, EssilorLuxottica, HOYA, and Johnson & Johnson.
