CooperVision is partnering with The Strong National Museum of Play to bring children’s vision education, myopia awareness and free pediatric vision screenings to families in Rochester, N.Y.

As presenting sponsor of the museum’s “Summer of Exploration” program, CooperVision is supporting interactive experiences designed to help children and caregivers better understand the importance of eye health.

Free Vision Screenings

CooperVision is collaborating with University of Rochester Medicine Flaum Eye Institute for complimentary vision screenings, which will take place July 23 and Aug. 20 from noon to 2 p.m. in The Strong’s Adams Atrium. Volunteers from Flaum Eye Institute’s Pediatric MobilEyes program will assess children from pre-K through high school for potential vision problems or eye disease.

Impact of Myopia

CooperVision’s summer-long museum exhibit, “The Great Wonder Seekers Adventure,” features family-friendly information about myopia and the importance of early intervention. The installation includes myopia simulation to experience the visual challenges associated with myopia.

CooperVision says the effort reflects its broader work in myopia control and management such as MiSight 1 day, an FDA-approved soft contact lens that slows the progression of myopia in children.

Taking Care of the Community

Steven Robins, president, Americas, CooperVision, says the company feels a responsibility to take care of the children growing up in the Rochester community where they operate.

“Too many children experience vision challenges that go undetected, but we have both the expertise and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference locally,” he says. “By providing free screenings and delivering engaging, hands-on education directly to families at The Strong, we’re raising awareness and helping ensure that children across Rochester have the clear vision they need to learn, play, and thrive.”

“We are proud to partner with CooperVision to bring the Summer of Exploration program at The Strong to life,” adds Hillary Bobys, senior director of corporate and strategic relations at The Strong. “CooperVision’s support reinforces their exceptional commitment to the community and children’s well-being.”
