Shamir has launched Shamir Sun Intelligence, a new optical lens design created to support vision across a range of outdoor environments and activities. The launch is part of the company’s broader “Sun Rx by Shamir” approach, which Shamir says aims to streamline how eye care professionals dispense prescription sunglasses.
According to the company, the new design is intended to address key challenges associated with outdoor vision, including changing viewing distances, varying light conditions, and frequent gaze shifts between the surrounding environment and digital devices.
AI-Driven Design
Shamir Sun Intelligence utilizes an AI-driven optical design developed specifically for outdoor use. The design combines multiple optical elements to provide wide fields of view, support vision in motion, and maintain visual clarity when viewing digital screens outdoors.
The company says the design is engineered to help wearers adapt to different outdoor situations while supporting sharp vision across a variety of activities.
Fit Flexibility
Another focus of the Shamir Sun Intelligence platform is frame flexibility. The design accommodates a wide range of prescriptions, frame types, and shapes, including flat and wraparound frame styles. The company says this allows patients to select frame styles based on their preferences without being limited by prescription requirements.
The Sun Rx by Shamir platform also incorporates technologies intended to improve fitting and dispensing. Among them is Shamir iFit, the company’s AI-driven frame measurement solution. The technology helps eye care professionals detect and measure pupils through tinted lenses, supporting accurate lens fitting in prescription sunglasses.
