The International Keratoconus Academy (IKA) of Eye Care Professionals is hosting its 4th Annual IKA Keratoconus Symposium on Dec. 12 at the Grand Hyatt DFW Airport in Dallas. This year’s program will focus on interventional keratoconus and epithelium-on crosslinking (epi-on CXL).
The one-day educational event is designed for optometrists, ophthalmologists, residents, fellows, and other eye care professionals involved in the diagnosis and management of keratoconus.
“The pace of innovation in keratoconus management has never been greater,” says Dr. Andrew S. Morgenstern, IKA president, co-founder, and co-chair. “This symposium will bring together many of the world’s leading experts to translate the latest scientific evidence into practical action steps attendees can immediately incorporate into their practices.”
From Diagnosis to Treatment
Educational sessions will address several topics associated with keratoconus care, including early disease detection, advanced corneal imaging, corneal biomechanics, CXL, specialty contact lens management, surgical decision-making, and postoperative care. The program will also examine future innovations in keratoconus management.
The symposium will combine educational sessions with interactive discussions that allow attendees to engage directly with faculty. Participants will also have opportunities to network with other professionals involved in corneal and specialty contact lens care.
According to the IKA, this year’s focus on interventional keratoconus and epi-on CXL reflects its goal of providing attendees with a comprehensive understanding of the condition while emphasizing multidisciplinary collaboration to provide the best outcomes for patients with keratoconus.
Continuing education credit through the Council on Optometric Practitioner Education (COPE) and continuing medical education accreditation is expected for the program.
