Zeiss Medical Technology introduced Zeiss Collaborative Care, a browser-based application designed to improve continuity of care among eye care professionals. Built on the Zeiss Health Data Platform (HDP), the application enables secure data sharing and structured referrals.

Zeiss Collaborative Care will be demonstrated at 100% Optical in London Feb. 28-March 2 and at Vision Expo in Orlando March 11-14.

Share, Refer, Network

Zeiss Collaborative Care centers on three core functions:

  • Share. This function allows providers to securely exchange reports, images, and patient data to obtain second opinions and consult peers in real time via chat and notifications. This enables clinical insights to move with the patient and supports informed decision-making and timely care coordination.
  • Refer. This function enables ECPS to send, track, and prioritize referrals within a secure browser-based environment. Providers can also receive and download relevant patient data into their own systems. This helps ensure continuity from initial consultation through specialist care.
  • Network. This component supports collaboration between optometrists and ophthalmologists, facilitating ongoing communication and professional connections. The browser-based structure enables participation independent of a single data management system.

Connected Care

This new solution offers deployment as either a standalone cloud solution or as an integration with Zeiss FORUM, enabling diagnostic data, images, and clinical insights to move securely between providers. This setup allows practices to participate regardless of their current digital infrastructure.

“At Zeiss we’ve focused the strengths of our digital expertise to address some of the persistent challenges in a patient’s healthcare journey,” says Magnus Reibenspiess, chief commercial officer and head of the Strategic Business Unit Ophthalmology at Zeiss Medical Technology. “Working closely with our customers, we’ve laid the foundation to transform continuity of care today, supported by data-driven, digital care models that can follow patients throughout their ophthalmic care pathway. Zeiss Collaborative Care is an important step forward in our vision, bringing care teams closer together for more efficient patient care.”
