adidas Sport Eyewear has launched the POWERVIZN lens system, which are now integrated into every model across its eyewear collection. According to Marcolin, POWERVIZN is designed to enhance visual clarity, optimize contrast, and improve overall visual control for athletes performing and competing in a range of environments.
Shifting light conditions, reflective surfaces, and changing terrain can all impact the eyes during outdoor performance. The development of POWERVIZN was guided by research into these environmental variables that affect vision during activity. The resulting lens system is designed to support consistent visual performance across multiple sports and conditions.
Built Around Performance Variables
The POWERVIZN system is structured around four outdoor factors that impact performance: light conditions, terrain type, external noise factors, and enabling technologies. These elements are addressed through a combination of base lens tints, mirror coatings, and protective treatments. Together, they regulate light transmission, enhance depth perception, reduce glare, and minimize visual noise caused by water, sweat, dust and oils.
High Contrast Technology
POWERVIZN features High Contrast Technology, which enhances color definition and sharpens terrain visibility. This allows athletes to quickly interpret their surroundings and respond to changes.
The precision mirror coating reduces glare from reflective surfaces while enhancing the performance of the base tint. This combination of mirror coating and base tint allows for high performance across a range of light conditions, from bright sunlight with high glare to low-light environments, the company says. Lenses are tuned to specific terrain types, including road, trail, snow, and water, improving depth perception and obstacle detection, helping wearers to reduce environments distractions and maintain visual clarity during activities.
Protection and Durability
To address external factors during sports and activities, hydrophobic and oleophobic coatings are applied to both sides of the lens. These treatments repel water, sweat, dust, and oils to help preserve clear vision.
